Worldmate releases iPhone app, finally!

animated gif iPhone landingPage Worldmate releases iPhone app, finally!Worldmate has finally released an iPhone app. Worldmate used to be my travel itinerary manager of choice when I worked off a blackberry, but I switched to TripIt when I began using my iPhone. Although neither had an iPhone “app”, at least Tripit had a iphone friendly browsing experience. At the time (July 08?) Worldmate’s stance was that their users didn’t have iphones so they had no plans for iPhone product development. I guess they must have seen some churn and decided to do something about it.

I am very keen to test both services, Worldmate and TripIt on my upcoming holiday to Europe and compare the two. My biggest concern is offline functionality, as no one wants to pay roaming charges in another country just to check what time their flight leaves! TripIt’s offline capability was buggy when it first came out, but seems to be stable now. There is no mention on the Worldmate site about the offline capability of their app.

There is no comparison between Tripit and WorldMate live. I used WML on my BB Bold before getting an iPhone and it was fantastic. The iPhone App is not yet as functional as the BB App but is still better than Tripit. I tried Tripit and could see nothing that would be better than WML.

Hi Joe, thanks for the comment. I agree with you to an extent, but interestingly I found myself using TripIt more on my recent holiday. I will be writing up a review soon!
