Update - It seems that the move is quite recent. This weeks B&T magazine states that "Friendster has opened a base in Sydney".

"The move is part of an Asia-Pacific expansion drive which includes the opening of of an office in Singapore and increase in head count across the Asia-Pacific region."

Hi Lena, you raise a very good point. You can find just about anyone in Sydney. I agree that overall it would be easier to attract the best talent to Sydney, rather than some of the more traditional Asian hubs.

Sydney is pretty well located for any business that has the Asia-Pacific as its main focus though. Especially an online business where you do not need to worry about distance. For one thing you get good tech and business skills as well as language skills for all APAC markets in one handy place. I would imagine that it is easier to attract staff to Sydney than e.g. to Manila or KL.

I agree that the article was a bit unclear about the "move". The headline said one thing, the article talked about something else.
